What is Kids Hope USA?
KIDS HOPE USA is a national church-owned, school based mentoring program that equips a church to build a partnership with its neighborhood public elementary school by providing faithful mentors to children who need a caring adult friend. KIDS HOPE USA gives schools a proven intervention to help at-risk children at no cost to the school. One child, one hour is the heart of KIDS HOPE USA. One caring adult mentoring an at-risk child for one hour every week can result in huge impact. Because when kids feel loved and valued, they are better able to learn, grow, and succeed.
A KIDS HOPE USA mentor must:
- Love children and be sensitive to their needs
- Be ready to listen to a child
- Have his/her own transportation
- Be able to read
- Maintain a confidential relationship
- Be a member/regular attendee of the church
KIDS HOPE USA mentors will be fully trained to develop a successful mentoring relationship with a child. Equally important, the KIDS HOPE USA Director will always be available to advise and assist all mentors. If you are interested in becoming a Mentor or Prayer Partner or have any questions, please contact Wanda Bell. Our School is Fuqua. We currently have 12 Mentors and could always use more as we have several Children on a waiting list. Each KIDS HOPE USA mentor will be under the supervision of and report to the KIDS HOPE USA Director, Wanda Bell, at the church. The mentor also agrees to cooperate with the student’s teacher.
